The President's Corner
Jackie Sprague, President The 2007 Vermont AEYC Conference is a now a memory, but what a great one! This year marked were many firsts – Vermont AEYC went "green" with online registrations, we negotiated low $99.00 room rates for all attendees, and offered the first statewide discussion centered around the definition of quality. Each year, we give out the Distinguished Service Award to an individual in Vermont who shows dedication and outstanding service to young children and families over a period of time. Recipients show dedication to building excellence for children, and demonstrate a sustained impact on the lives of children in and families in Vermont with over 10 years of service here in our state. In 2007, it was a pleasure for the Vermont AEYC to offer the Distinguished Service Award to Scott Noyes. Scott has served children as a teacher, director, mentor, and trainer. He is energetic – to say the least! – and that, coupled with Scott's great sense of humor, makes his presentations engaging, dynamic, and impossible to ignore. He has inspired many early childhood professionals, giving them a refreshed start and renewed energy to return to work with children. He presents with animation and delivers trainings that are truly fun and exciting. A participant in one of Scott’s trainings sums it up well: “You are truly an inspiration to those of us who have chosen Early Childhood as a career. You’re terrific.” Thank you to all of you who attended the 2007 Conference. We hope to see you again this fall. |
